What’s New On Olive Hill?
Summer is coming to a close!
We can’t believe it, but all the signs are there. Fall is quickly approaching. 2010 has given us a whirlwind growing season better than any we could have asked for. We thank you for your business throughout the warm months and look forward to continuing to do business with you in the future!
Our Flock of Geese is Growing.
We’ve added a Heritage Goose page to the site featuring our growing flock of American Buff Geese. Meat and eggs from the geese will not be available until 2011, but we invite you to learn more about the breed and our flock in the meantime both on the Heritage Goose page and in the Blog.
Jasper has settled in.
You may remember that earlier this summer we added a second American Guinea Hog boar to our existing herd. We’re happy to report that Jasper is settling in nicely, living on pasture with our older boar, Fletcher, while Gertrude spends her days in the bachelorette pad awaiting the arrival of her pigs, and is everything we could have hoped for in a herd sire. Be sure to drop by the Herd Page and check him out, if you haven’t already.
We’ve Added Good Stuff!
Our Good Stuff page contains links to sites of local interest such as Michigan Backroads an online guide to unconventional travel in the state and even the first of our “Quick and Dirty” guides for other small farmers. Check it out!
The Transition is Complete!
Not only is our chicken flock now 100% sustainable and Heritage-Breed based (find out more about that on our Free-Range Chicken Page), the first batch of 100% heritage birds is already in the freezer — and they pair well with a good barbecue sauce, we can tell you that much.
